The old covenant was impossible to keep. The terms we set for ourselves to "be a good person" are never met. Then Jesus comes, he establishes a new covenant with the Father, he ratifies it in his blood, God approves it with the empty tomb, and he gives us the benefits in this Holy Supper. Here, in this covenant you know God and it changes your life.
Getting to know God
How well do you know God? Jesus has come so that you may really know him.
It Must Happen This Way: He Did Not Open His Mouth
We always want and expect justice, but injustice is everywhere. When Jesus faced injustice, he did not open his mouth to defend himself or complain. He does this to fulfill God's justice and let us go free.
How Much Is Enough
They had no recipe for this. So, many people, so few people, and Jesus asks them and us what do you have? He answers, how much is enough?
It Must Happen the Way: The Magnificent Price
When Judas threw those coins into the temple and the Chief Priest used them to buy the potter's field, they fulfilled both Israel's history and what God had spoken about his Good Shepherd.
God Challenges the Faith of those He Loves
How can Jesus treat this woman this way? Oh that the Lord would do the same for us, he challenges our faith to teach and strengthen us, so that we will go to him and hold his word firmly.
Grace Alone Makes Us All Equal
You too go work in my vineyard! Those don't sound like the most comforting words you have ever heard, but Jesus shows how those words teach God's inexpressible grace to us.
Jesus Shows His True Nature
The one who suffers and dies for us is the one who shines with unborrowed glory brighter than the sun. Watch him and listen to him as he does the most amazing act the world has ever seen, he saves you.
Jesus is in Complete Control
Three words summed up how the disciples felt in the storm: Lord, Save, We-Perish. One question blazed in their hearts on the calm water: what sort of man is this? Great comfort for us, The Man Jesus Christ, God's Son is in complete control.
Jesus Makes Faith, Great Faith
Faith is an often misused and misunderstood word in our culture today. Faith is not wishful thinking. Faith knows who Jesus is and goes to him. Faith holds on to Jesus and trusts him. Faith in Jesus is great faith.
Jesus Blesses Marriage
Jesus' first public act in his ministry was to attend a wedding. His first miracle was to provide wine to bless the couple. He still gives marriage top honor among all his earthly gifts. He still blesses marriage today. He reveals his glory and saves both the married and the single with his grace.
